There are several important reasons to have habitation checks carried out regularly:
• Safety – helping to protect you, your family, and your loved ones
• Early problem detection – identifying issues early can prevent minor faults from developing into costly repairs
• Warranty protection – ensuring your manufacturer’s warranty remains valid
• Maintaining value – a documented history of habitation checks and maintenance can improve the value and resale appeal of your motorhome or caravan
A habitation check involves a detailed inspection of the habitation area, carried out by a qualified motorhome and caravan engineer. The check follows a structured procedure and a highly detailed inspection plan. It assesses potential safety risks such as fire hazards, ventilation, and gas systems, as well as common problem areas including damp, water systems, electrical systems, and bodywork. Following the inspection, you will receive a full report outlining any issues found along with recommended actions.
